Delaware lost 144 farms in the 2017-2022 time period, a loss of approximately 6.3% of the farms in the state, which amounts to the loss of about 2,000 acres farmed (an average of almost 14 acres per lost farm).
What is also interesting is that the value of farmland hasn't risen to keep up with the average increase cost of land in the real estate market in Delaware.
